Last year at the Oxnard A/P hertz had drivers who could come on base to the terminal and pick you up. The driver also told us if you had an up to date Hertz 1 card that they would leave a car at base ops for you to pick up. Hertz's is not the best price but at this location could be the most convient. My suggestion would be to make a reservation on line using whatever discount you can get, wait a few days and call and speak to the manager and tell him your needs. If he can't or won't help you canx the reservation. Oh signing up for a Hertz card is easy and costs nothing they keep your info on file. yes I've used this method at other bases to have a car waiting on me when I arrived after hours,NO I won't post them online because someone will screw it up for us. Managers like aircrews remender friendly people who are willing to give them cookies, donuts, sandwiches, and pizza. Now I'll shut up before John deletes my post made in my wife's name. |

Never tried Hertz there but it might be worth a call. I believe they coordinate a pickup through the nearby (10 miles or so) Camarillo, Airport. From the Hertz website. Navy Exchange Minimart 521 9th Street Building 16 PLEASE NOTE: There is not a vehicle rental office at this location. This vehicle may need to be coordinated for pick-up and/or drop-off. I was there in february and There were no rentals on base. I rented from Enterprise in Port Hueneme and they picked me up at the main gate. Don't recall the cost for the week but there was a $25.00 fee for dropping it off at Miramar. |

Has anyone been to Pt Mugu recently knowing about car rentals ? I am looking to catch a flight from JAX to there and drive the coast line. I know it not an easy base to get around. Are there rentals on base or off base who will pick up at the gate? Thanks for any info. |
