Hertz has been on the base for several years and you can drop their cars at SDI or the Del Coronado and vice versus. As to dropping keys at North Island. The Ops building is directly behind the PaxTerm (as you face its front entrance). There is a drop box on the second deck. |

John G: Thanks for the clarification of the drop box location at the terminal. We(guys)did a car rental on the base years ago. Since we'll only be in San Diego overnight(Sun), we decided to use Yellow Cab of Coronado; they'll pick us up at the airport and drop us off at the CBH bldg for about $ 20.00. Thanks again. |

Walter, in Jan I flew into San Diego Int and rented from Hertz. I was able to drop the car off at the N.I. terminal (bldg on the left of the terminal) they have a drop box upstairs. |

Meg and John: Thank you both for your suggestions. I may lean to the Yellow Cab option since Hertz and Admiral did not answer their telephones about an hour ago. However, the front desk clerks @ CBH and Navy Lodge say they are fully booked for this weekend. Decisions, Decisions... Thanks again. |

I space A'd into NI earlier this year. Hertz is on base at the bx gas station. I rented for 3 days then dropped of at SD IAP with no problem. The reverse should work for you, also. |

Walter I have a bad memory but I think Yellow cab has a shuttle service for about $7 from the A/P to the N.I. terminal. Maybe it was listed on the airport site. You have to call in advance and ask for someone who can go on the base. Sorry I don't have the number or more info |

Need Advice please: May fly commercial into San Diego this weekend, rent a car hoping to stay @ North Island drop it off @ North Island NAS Mon am and catch an early AM space A flight same day. Seems that a different (Admiral) rental car ageny is on the base; Enterprise was there a while ago. Any suggestions? Thank you.... Walter |
